This screen is so changed, I hesitate calling it a re-work. The black and gold make such a huge difference!

In Witness, encaustic on board, 8"h x 10"w, January 2010* The Montgomery museum wants some small pieces for the display case... I just realized this may be a 'negative moment' self-portrait of me, alone, fading. (If so, see Cheshire Cat - I hope the smile remains!)

Hyasynthss 2, digital, hand encaustic, 20.25"h x 9.25"w January 2010* hs1Another rework - Hyasynthsss was first shown at the Montgomery Museum (Cburg) in 1997. Great composition, but I couldn't keep my hands off it. Note that the redux is a reversed, more saturated image. I love doing heavy wax impasto... and gold. Shiny.

Before I Sleep, digital, oil pastel,
16.25 sq., January 2010*

Riding through a snowstorm in the front of a bus offers unique photographic possibilities. The line from Frost seems to fit. Photo taken same day as Rest Stop Snow.

NOTE: The signature is matte oil pastel hiding in the semi-gloss giclee black horozontal.

Jelly Coconuts, acrylic, digital and hand encaustic, 18"h x 15"w , January 2010 jc02This one is reworked - I've been meaning to add a boat for quite a while (8 years! _ focus). Since I had the encaustic tools warm, I finally got around t it. BIG difference - focus!
What a productive night at life drawing on Sunday! After photographing, cleaning-up and cropping, I found the color halftone option (which I've never used) created unique textures (of course I changed the settings and process to suit each work) that seem appropriate to this digital manipulation of  traditional process/subject.

Rest Stop Snow
Digital, Oil Pastel
16"h x 10.75"w*
December, 2009
(Framed January 2010)

I enjoy the combined bench top view with  the 'real world' view of the trees (plan and elevation in Lowenfeld's schematic Stage.) Am I regressing? It's less 'abstractified' than Observing the Proper Forms (below,) perhaps more recognizable...

Observing the Proper Forms
Digital, Oil Pastel

(Framed January 2010)

It's not abstract - hint: The subject took a while to set up. (It's concrete formsfor my studio floor, recolored.)

Jacksonville Twilight
Digital, Oil Pastel
7.25"h x 15.5"w,
December, 2009
(Framed January 2010)
A splinter of sun seemed to highlight the field behind the trees of the Jacksonville Art Center, so I took the photo - in time, for a change. The oil pastels add emphasis and focus on the print-out.

11.5"h x 16.5 "w*
November 17, 2009

(Framed January 2010)

This started as a therapy piece, and as a tribute to Al, my husband of 42 years, executed on the first anniversary of his death.

Friends have encouraged me to show it.

al7me

This 'photographic' piece was composed with two shots. One taken by me, and the other by Al, my late husband, in Albuquerque, September 2008. The sun's position shifted a bit while we changed positions, so adjusting the shadows, parallax, and relative sizes was challenging.

There's no way this is realistic. It's a lie. We never sat side-by-side on that bench.
